Tandoori Chicken receipe

This tandoori chicken receipe is very spicy,soft and juicy . We can enjoy the same taste as that of restaurant style. Chicken should be marinated with tandoori masala, which can be easily bought from market or we can make this masalausing the spices available in our own kitchen.Its not a tedious process and can be made easily at home in oven, stove or using charcoal fire and the taste will be different accordingly.



  1. Chicken - 1 kg

  2. curd - 1/2 cup ( thick)

  3. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp

  4. Garam masala - 2 tsp

  5. Red chilly powder - 2 tbsp

  6. Pepper powder - 2 tsp

  7. Corriander powder - 3 tsp 

  8. salt - to taste

  9. lemon juice - 2 tbsp

  10. Oil or butter - 3 tbsp




Clean the chicken well make deep lines on them,this will allow the masala to go deep into the chicken and make it spicy.

Take a clean bowl add curd ginger garlic paste , garam masala, chilly powder, pepper powder , corriander powder and salt . pour some oil or buttrt and also lemon juice, mix them well to make a thick paste. Now add the chicken to it and mix well as masala enters into it deeply. Cover it and keep it aside for 6-8 hours.You can also refrigerate it , this will make the chicken more softer.

However we all dont have oven at home.Here I describe the methods in stove as well as on a charcoal fire.



Heat the pan put 1 to 2 tbsp of oil or butter. Spread it nicely, when the pan is hot place the chicken on the pan. Take care to keep the stove in low - medium flame/ After 4-5 minutes flip the pieces. Flip them again and again every 4 - 5 minutes, till it is finely cooked.

If you need the smoky taste, burn a piece of charcoal,when it is hot place it in a bowland pour 1 to 2 tsps of oil.Place it along with the cooked chickenand close it. After 5- 6 minutes open the lid. You will get the real smoky effect.



Burn the charcoal in a clay pot or any substitutes. When the charcoal is hot and red place the grill grease it and spread the marinated chicken. After 7 - 8 minutes flip the chicken. Repeat the process till it is fully cooked and the colour turns golden brown.

If you need more spicy add some lemon juice with oil or butter and just spread it over the chicken using the brush while flipping it .This will avoid chicken getting dried and make it look glossy and shiny.

Now tandoori chicken is ready to serve with sliced onionsand lemons. can also use mayonis with it to add taste.
