This green peas masala namely naadan kadala curry is very healthy , delicious in taste and very simple to prepare . This side dish can be prepared using green peas or channa the taste will be the same. It is a very healthy dish as it has a lot of nutritional values . It will be a perfect match with chappati , parota , idiyappam , appam , poori etc.
Green peas or channa - 200 gms
Potato - 2
Onion - 2 (big)
Green chilly - 2
Tomato - 2
Ginger garlic paste - 3 tsp
Chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Corriander powder - 2 tbsp
Fennel - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt - As needed
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - As needed
Curry leaves and corriander leaves - As needed
At first soak the green peas overnight or atleast for 6 hrs . Slice onion , green chilly , tomatoes and potatoes .
Now take a pressure cooker and put soaked green peas , sliced onion , green chilly , potatoes and tomatoes to it . Add required quantity of water to them to cook . Also add salt and turmeric powder to it . keep it on a stove and cook for 3 - 4 whistles in the pressure cooker .
Now open the cooker to check whether it is fully cooked . Stir it nicely to blend them . Keep it aside .
Now take a hard bottomed pan . When the pan is hot pour some oil to it and fry fennel , curry leaves and ginger garlic paste . Also add chilly powder , corriander powder and garam masala to it . Saute well till its raw smell disappears .
Now transfer the cooked contents from the cooker to the pan . Stir well . Let it boil for 2 - 3 minutes . Add corriander leaves and switch off the stove .
You can also add grinded coconut if necessary to yield for more persons and also a tsp of ghee at the end to add to its taste .
Now the delicious and easy naadan kadalacurry is ready to serve with any tiffin items.
