This is purely a vegetarian side dish of north Indians primarily Punjabis. The main ingredient used here is whole black lentils and kidney beans cooked in lots of butter . This dish gets its richness in taste from the use of butter and fresh cream . Best to serve with chappati , parata , naan etc.
Black lentils or urad dhal - 1/2 cup
Kidney beans - 2 tbsp
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Butter - 5 tbsp
Sunflower oil - 1 tbsp
Onion - 1 (big)
Green chillies - 3 (sliced)
Tomato puree or grinded tomato - 1/2 cup
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Fresh cream - 3 tbsp
Salt - As needed
At first soak urad dhal and kidney beans overnight or atleast before 6 hours of preparation . now pressure cook the dhal and beans with the needed salt till it becomes a soft mixture.
Now heat the pan with some oil , you can also use ghee instead of sunflower oil to increase its richness .
Then crackle some cumin seeds . Also add chopped onions , green chillies , ginger garlic paste and tomato puree to it and saute well .
When oil gets separated add the cooked mixture to it and bring it to boil . Add garam masala and also salt as per your taste and let it boil .
Now add butter to it and stir well and blend them nicely
At last garnish with fresh cream and chopped corriander leaves .
Now the delicious receipe is ready to serve with any of your favourite food.
